James, the son of Leo and Rena Chandler, grew up in the retail clothing business in Springfield. He married Polly Miller Chandler in 1971. They have one son, Miller, who is the fitness director at Belle Meade Country Club, daughter-in-law, Mary, and two grandchildren, Matt 8 and Mason 6 who are future All American Athletes! After graduating from Springfield High School, he attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. When not working, James loves to spend time on the water and is an avid boater and fisherman.
In 1974, while owning and operating three retail businesses, Chandler's Dept store and Rena's Shoes, both located in Springfield, and The Shoe Tree in Gallatin, James obtained his real estate license and founded Robertson County Real Estate which soon became Century 21 Robertson Co. Real Estate, Inc. In 1976, James became active in the development business as he is today as developer of Glover Hills located between Springfield and Coopertown. In 1982, James founded Chandler Building, Inc. Since that time he has built over 200 homes in Robertson, Montgomery, and Cheatham Counties.
Today James continues to be an auctioneer and principal broker of Century 21 Robertson County Real Estate, Inc. licensed in both Tennessee and Kentucky. James' business philosophy has always been "Nobody works for me. We will work as a team with a common goal."
